Just Mum and Me winner

firstly i would just like to say.

to every mother
who today woke up alone.
or who woke at 4am to the sound of cartoons blaring as your children had decided to wake early.
or whose husbands had to work and so today just felt like any other day of the week.
who woke up missing a child and with heartache.
who woke up to vacuuming, dishes, washing and chaos.
who woke up knowing there wasn’t enough money to pay the bills.
who woke up to no breakfast in bed. no cards. no flowers.

you are champions. you really are.
you are the incredible loves of your childrens lives.
you are their soft places to fall.
you are the arms that hold them tight.

you wipe their tears.
you give them hope.

it feels lonely and hard. but you are just as important as the mum who woke under circumstances different to yours.

we don’t really need a commercial day to tell us how amazing mums are. but i know. it is nice to feel championed sometimes.

thank you for your beautiful entries. they were just incredible. i wrote to one friend that i felt so harsh just random numbering it. as your entries were so amazing. i had so many emails and comments.

but in the end. i could not have chosen myself anyway. it would have been way too hard.

my husband watched me do the draw via Random.Org. I had written down your names with a number beside them. The winning entry was number 7. and number 7 belonged to amber who left this comment:

“The special mummy I would like to nominate is Kellie. A mummy who has two little princesses, close in age. This special Mummy just needs a break… something right to go her way. She has battled post natal blues, cancer, averages 1-2 hours sleep per night (I know right!?!) financial strain, hard yards. Through all of her trials, she battles and strives. Her complete focus is her babes. She is an inspiration to me.”

so amber. thank you and congrats to your friend Kellie. please email me or get in touch via my facebook page.
