Family shoot

I have been itching to get out and do a winter sun, family shoot of MY family for a long long time. Then, driving home the other day from a shoot I saw it…..the sun was setting, the light made me want to jump out of the car then and there and I knew I had found the spot for my people.

So, late Sunday afternoon I rushed everyone into the car and dragged them along to the wetlands that overlook the Pauatahanui inlet. Oh oh oh oh….the light……..now I know I do go on about it….and I will admit I am obsessed with it…….but Andrew…..well he tries to get it but at times gets a little confused with my obsession with it……Andrew is actually amazing with a camera himself – with a background in Graphic design – he’s got a tonne of technical knowledge and between him and my Dad they are my photography technical dictionaries! So he was ever so patient listening when I said I wanted sunspots, hazeyness, light that makes your heart skip a beat…etc etc……and he delivered……and I nearly cried when I saw the photos of Talei and I.

I guess my obsession with light is that its just so real – its how you experience a moment….you look at the photos and think…yes thats just how it was…all hazey and reflecty and sometimes squinty….and when it catches in peoples hair and dances across their eyes – that is just pure magic…..

So……here is my family shoot……of the people I love the most…..a little bit hazey, a tiny bit vintage and full of my heart. xoxo
