A beautiful chaos

“its a little bit chaotic, i hope you don’t mind?”

are. you. kidding. me?

mind?

i freakin love it. bring. it. on.

this post is going to be long. maybe. so if you have a cup of coffee of 10minutes to spare. pull up a chair.

lately. someone very dear to me. has reminded me to find my why.

my why in what i do. my why in taking photographs. my business why. the way i photograph why.

the following set of photographs from my most recent family shoot.

sum up my why.

with such incredible accuracy.

my why.

my why is your chaos. your unscripted family life. the way you wrap your arms around your babies. the way they cling on to your skirt. the peels of laughter as they bury their face into your neck. its their sticky fingers that they wipe on your new especially for the shoot bought top.

its dads enormous arms scooping them up and dangling them upside down. its your father pushing his grandson on his new bike for the first time. my why is exhausted tears, frustration and refusals.

my why is your home. the clothes on your floor. the toys out of the toy box. the piles of paper around your desk. the unfinished renovations. the piles of shoes at the front door.

my why is your family. that has travelled from thousands of miles away to be close to you. my why is you grabbing them in for a hug. and then holding them. still unbelieving they are here.

my why. is just who you so wonderfully are. in your home. with your favourite people in the whole damn world.

and i will come. and accept you. just as you are. because if you chose to trust me with that.

its what honestly makes my heart leap and dance and sing.

its my why. my why of what i do.

to hannah and brian and your incredible family.

thank you from the bottom of my heart. you were utterly perfect.

just as you were. and are.
